March 15th, 2016: To the naked eye, Peter Kenneth Frampton could be described as a modest man who might be nothing more than the object of a social glance in a crowded room.  However, when the lights  went dim at the cathedral-like Sunset Center in Carmel-by-the Sea  this evening, he emerged the master of the acoustic guitar, playing before an adoring audience who were just as captivated as they were 40 years ago.  40 years——has it really been 40 years?  Mr. Frampton did not mention but , January marked 40 years since the release of the iconic  eight -track wonder of the world, Frampton Comes Alive.   A lot of water under the bridge since that time  but Frampton did not drown in it as many rocks stars who reached his height of fame have done.  No.  He picked up his guitar strings and moved on,  winning a Grammy in 2006 for his instrumental work Fingerprints. The British son of an art teacher went on making sweet music and even composed, “Hummingbird In a Box,” a delicate song written for the Cincinnati Ballet.   Frampton and his son Julian, who opened for him,  are winding up their  Raw Acoustic Tour.  What’s next for the 65 year-old legend?  What else?  A summer tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd!
